The Story of Mr. WoodcutGuy
Throughout my many years of playing RuneScape the one skill I have always loved was woodcutting. Many people don’t understand how anyone could love such a boring skill. Yet it was the nuisances of this peaceful skill that I came to love.
Woodcutting is one of the few skills that requires no attention at all, yet you must still be actively checking your character in case a tree has fallen, or if your inventory is full. It’s because of woodcutting I’m able to listen to live performances of my favorite bands online, watch a basketball game on TV, strum my acoustic, all while gaining experience points on RuneScape woodcutting.
Yet my love for woodcutting goes far beyond the “afk” portion of it. There’s just something about the skill that every Scaper takes pride in. First in for most, it’s easily the most profitable skill, as your only expense is in buying a hatchet, and the price the logs go for can be quite high, especially in a thriving RuneScape economy. It’s also one of the few skills where multiple people will surround a Yew tree at Seer’s Village with their most expensive clothing on just to make the statement “Hey, I’ve done this a lot, and I’ve made a boat load of money doing it.” There’s nothing like showing off your RuneScape wealth.
As of now I am on my second trip to 99 woodcutting. My first account, which I stopped playing with back in 2008 was the closet I had ever gotten to 99 woodcutting at level 87. Yet once the wilderness went down, multiple changes of the accounts password, and RuneScape changing for good, I walked away from my goal as I found it to be too meaningless for a game I was no longer enjoying due to big updates.
In the Summer of 2013, when RuneScape 2007 was released, I couldn’t resist to just get a taste of the old game that I loved so dearly. I was hooked yet again. After creating a main account I needed to find a way to make some quick cash. That is when I decided to create a second account, a skiller named Mr. WoodcutGuy who would be used for no other purposes except, you guessed it, woodcutting. I eventually had to walk away from the game again though due to personal commitments in my life. I honestly just didn’t have the time to play RuneScape at all.
It wasn’t until February of 2015, when the announcement that RuneScape 2007 would be offered to free to play players as well. I decided to reboot Mr. WoodcutGuy, and make him my main player. I’m currently a level three skiller, who’s main goal is 99 woodcutting, and I will not stop until that goal is achieved.
